Placenta in your Hair?!

Hey I think it’s time for another general hair care tip post. After wearing your dread extensions you may want to get a trim because the rubber bands or ties tend to break your ends a little bit. Usually you can solve this with a quick trip to the salon for a trim but if you don’t have time for that or are like me and hate going to the salons then this blog is for you!

Many people experience dry hair and dry ends after wearing dreads, a simple conditioning treatment can usually solve this problem and here are two products I highly, highly recommend if you find yourself having a breakage problem.

Hask Placenta
Hask Placenta! This amazing and easy quick hair treatment is great for intense damage repair. Now I know the thought of putting sheep placenta in your hair seems gross but it’s full of protein to make your hair strong and healthy. It has tremendous benefits for helping bleached, or chemically treated hair become virtually unbreakable! This is obviously not a vegan friendly product but for the fellow animal lovers out there I assure you there is no damage to the mother sheep or baby sheep when extracting the placenta after birth. :) You can pick this up in any local Sally store for about $3.00.

redken
Next up is a personal favorite of mine; Redken’s Extreme Anti-Snap Leave-In. You leave it in after shampooing and conditioning and style as usual. This is not a treatment system, but more of an ends protector, and it smells great! You can pick this up in any local salon for about $13.00. This does not make your hair greasy and it’s also used as a great detangler. When I worked in salons I used this product to get knots and tangles out of massive heads of hair, this is especially great for little kids with hard to manage curly hair.

I don’t want new dread extension users to feel weary about their hair being in horrible condition after wearing their extensions. This is usually not the case. This post is more for girls like me that bleach the life out of their hair and could use some extra help when maintaining those funky styles and health at the same time, because cool hair always looks it’s best and most extravagant when it’s healthy!
