Introducing iKandi into the Salon World!

As mentioned before in my last blog, when visited the Orlando Premier Show I was disappointed to see very little extension booths. Making dreads is a tedious and time consuming process, one that I would love to outsource to people looking for work. Particularly, a salon owner and hair dressers. Dread extensions are something no salons really carry. If I can get back in touch with the salon world enough to the point of establishing a business relationship with some advertising and some networking, I think I could put dread extensions on the map as a salon service as well as a custom online market.

Baby steps… First there was trying to get back into the salon community. Luckily, I went to school at Paul Mitchell and I think that I put together a good enough presentation that I will probably sign myself up to be a speaker at the school and tell students about iKandi Hair Design and what they can do to be involved and make some money off of it once they’re out of school and working in a salon. *To any hairdressers reading this right now: Advertise iKandi Hair Design in your salon and charge for installation, per hour, per dread..however you see fit.

The product would be made and sold exactly how it is now. The salon owner would put in a customer order, or a bulk order of colors to have on call for installation – I would then charge for this order, hand make each dread and ship it to whatever business or address it was going to. Once in the salon owners hands they can charge salon customers installation fees and make a profit. Bulk orders will always be discounted. It would be outrageous to charge full price on more than 500 dreads in an order. (for single ended this would mean about 4.5 sets…in doubles 500 dreads would account for 10 or so)..I’ll ponder on this more..First things first, get official packaging for display – Don’t want my dreads to go into the hands of a salon order only to pass them off as their own original product.
